Icepocalypse 2010 Part 2
Today we went over to Emily's and played in the snow with her and Clint. The snow turned out to be too dry to make a regular sized snowman so we made a little one. He was cute though! Nathan made a snowball pyramid thingy...it was quite impressive. And that thing at the end that looks like plain snow is actually a snow slug that Clint made. He started out aiming for a snow fort but it was way too cold to be out for that long and since the snow wasn't packing as well as we'd have liked, it turned into a snow slug. We had fun though!

Icepocalypse 2010
Just wanted to share a few pics of the big snow/ice storm we had over the last couple of days. Nathan's office closed on Thursday and Friday and I had CPE to get done so we both just worked from home on those two days. We did brave the weather on Friday night and go to the Thunder game - I had tickets through work and they were good seats...didn't want to miss out on that! Plus, the weather had calmed down by then, we were tired of being in the house, and I wanted a hot dog! The other good thing about that was that we had a parking pass for the parking garage and our car actually thawed quite nicely while it was under there!
And before anyone gives me grief about the dogs boots, let me just say, in this kind of weather you have to protect their feet. Those little pads on the bottom are really sensitive to the cold and it's also bad for them to be walking on the salt and junk that people put out to melt the snow. Besides, if he doesn't have them on, he walks off the porch, makes a motion of lifting his leg just to make us think he's taking care of business, and then turns around and sits on the front porch until we let him back in. As for the sweatshirt, if we don't put it back on him, he curls up with it to sleep on the couch.
I thought we were supposed to be thawing out today but Nathan says he thinks it was snowing when he took Kona out earlier, and there's a chance of freezing drizzle tomorrow morning and then freezing rain AGAIN on Wed./Thurs. or Thurs./Fri.
I should go start getting ready - church was canceled this morning but we're going to lunch w/our small group and maybe a few others. Hope everyone is staying warm!

Lists
Things that make me happy right now:
- The girl at the Station BBQ who remembers that Lana and I always ask for pickles. And last week when we forgot to ask and she wasn't working the register she made a point to go get pickles and bring them to us!
- The lady at the other Station BBQ who calls everyone "Love" and asks each person individually how they're doing.
- Hearing Ani DiFranco (and quite frankly anything else) on the Spy. It was my radio station in Stillwater right up until the second they turned top 20 and played Britney all day long. They're back and they're awesome.
- Having a play date with my nieces last week. I love watching them get excited about playing in an inch of water or running around in circles in a big empty room.
- Cheetos. And Mac and Cheese. And pretty much anything else with processed cheese in or on it. Not the best thing for me but it's so yummy!
- The cashier at Crest tonight who, in spite of all the crazies out stocking up for the "big ice storm" was very pleasant. (And for the record, we actually needed groceries, not supplies for the end of civilization as we know it.)

Play Date with the A-Team
On Friday my nieces, their parents, and Grammi all came to see me! We spent the afternoon at the Science Museum. I'm not going to put captions on all the pictures because that would take weeks and we all know I'm not the most timely at getting things posted anyway. The things we did were play with the water table (which I think they liked best, especially Alivia who thought that water was for drinking), riding the Segways (which Ains wanted no part of), walking through a mirror maze, watching a hot air balloon, and playing in an enormous tree house. Afterwards we got cupcakes for a snack - note Aliv's unique style of eating hers.
A couple of quick stories, both about Ains. We were walking around at the museum and Grammi pointed out this big dinosaur skeleton to Ains. Ains looked up at it, wrinkled up her nose and said "Ummmm...I'm not...impressed with that." Alrighty then. Next exhibit please! The other thing was that, as we were walking out to the car to head to our house for snacks Ains says to me "I've never been to your house before." I asked if she was sure and she says "Yep. But I've been to Nathan's." Mom asked if she thought Nathan and I don't live together...if that's the case we've got a lot of explaining to do! :) Enjoy the pics.

Vacation
Here are a few pictures from our trip to Hawaii. I think they're all pretty self-explanatory so no commentary here. Two notes I would like to make - those are NOT real pina coladas that we are drinking at the luau, and in that third from the bottom picture the WIND was actually blowing my shirt out...I'm not that big yet (even though I definitely feel like it some days). :)
It was a great trip - I did NOT want to leave. The weather was so great, everything smelled good, good food, just good all around. Thanks to my parents (and their billion Marriott points) for footing the bill for this one!
