Thankful Thursday x 2
Wow! You guys are good! Between us we must have a direct line because (and I know this will come as no surprise to some) WE GOT AN OFFER! Less than 24 hours after my last post. Nothing is a done deal yet. There will a counter, plus inspections (if the counter is accepted) and all the other things that go with this process. So your prayers are still coveted over the next few days/weeks as we see how this unfolds.
Thankful Thursday
I have been thankful for a whole host of things this week. Here's a short sampling:
* Wonderful teachers for the little man at his MDO program.
* Consistently cooler weather (and even a hint of fall in the air!)
* Pumpkin spice waffles (from Eggo...and I don't generally like those!)

* This:
Seriously, can you stand the cute? Those house shoes were a gift at a shower and they are just now fitting. And he loves them. And they make me smile.
* And this:
That's the sand dollar I found on our vacation to FL. Every time I pick it up to dust and set it back down, it drops a little more sand. It's like a little vacation while I'm cleaning. It makes me smile!
* Extra snuggles from the little monkey.
* A job that is flexible.
It's been a good week, and I KNOW it's going to get better!

Thankful Thursday
A few of the things I've been thankful for this week:
* COOLER WEATHER! I stepped on the porch this morning and at 76 degrees, I thought I was going to freeze. It was FANTASTIC.
* My mother-in-law being available to baby-sit for a couple of days so I could go to work.
* My job being flexible enough that I don't have to find a full-time sitter/daycare.
* Hugs from my sweet boy.
* Watching Milo do SO many new things - like make truck noises when he plays with his dump truck. I can only assume this is inborn because we did not show him how to do this.
* A husband whose patience knows no end.

Thankful Thursday
After a two week hiatus because I was packing for, and then actually being on, vacation, I'm back for Thankful Thursday!
So many times last week I stopped in the middle of an activity and though about how thankful I was for some little thing. Here are a few pics of those things:
A gorgeous sunset over the ocean:
Silly faces at the dinner table (when he should have been eating):
Evening walks barefoot on the beach with the little man:
Early morning coffee on the porch of our cabin (and seeing a deer walk past while we sat in the quiet!):
Sand between my toes, and sandy baby toes (and once I was even thankful for sand in my bed because it meant I was still on vacation!!!)
A whole 9 days to spend with my sweet husband and our little guy (who LOVES his Daddy):
Date night with my husband (and sweet friends who watched Milo so that we could have date night!):
A morning run on the beach, in the rain, and seeing a beautiful rainbow:
Did I mention walking on the beach? Seriously, our kid LOVES the beach. He loved the water, he loved the waves, he loved the sand. If we were out there, he was a happy little camper. I had SO MUCH FUN watching his sweet face as he watched the waves and walked in the sand.
And I don't have a pic of them but I was also thankful for our friends who we vacationed with. We had SUCH a great time, and it doesn't appear than any of us got tired of any of the others (even after 40 hours in a mini-van and sharing a cabin with one bathroom for five days). We had a wonderful time with them and are so thankful for their friendship!
A vacation post will follow sometime later (who knows, maybe in three months when I have time off from work because let's be honest, I'm not the most punctual when it comes to posting). And I still owe a birthday party post but I'm waiting for some pictures from someone (whose name I will not mention but it rhymes with Audrey). For now, these will have to hold you. Have a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday
Late again, I know. But don't even act surprised. Everyone knows that's how I roll these days.
On to business. Things I have been thankful for this week:
- A fun birthday party for Milo
- A husband who is creative and loves to go all out for birthdays (and any other celebration)
- Looking forward to a vacation
- A much needed mani/pedi all by myself on Thursday (my first one since before Milo was born - YIKES!)
- A happy, healthy almost one year old who is learning new things every day!
The big party was last weekend, it'll get it's own post later. For now, here's a sneak peek at the preparation - and seriously, if the look on Milo's face in that last one isn't pure joy, I don't know what is. He is just the smiliest baby!

Thankful Thursday
I'm taking a page from AM's book and posting about a specific person today. Today is Lana's birthday...meet Lana:
Lana, please don't kill me for posting that pic...it's the only one I can find of you!
Today I am thankful for chance encounters (totally orchestrated by God of course) and new friends that become old friends.
We met Lana and Benj at our preacher's house when both couples were invited over for dinner one night shortly after we'd started attending Mayfair. That night is one of only a couple that stick out in my memory because I was in pain from laughing so hard. If you know Lana, you probably have experienced this. If you don't know Lana, you're missing out. After that we became fast friends with them. Even though we've only known them for less than 4 years, it seems like they've been our friends forever. Sadly, a job took them far, far away about a year ago and we miss them daily. But I am still thankful for the time we got to live near them and hang out with them, I'm thankful for all of the fun times, the serious conversations, the road trips, the secrets shared, the hugs, the laughter, and all the other things that come with having great friends.

Thankful Thursday
I know, it's actually Sunday, but I've been busy! I've been chasing around a very busy 11 month old while his Daddy was out of town for a few days.
This week I am thankful that we have family close enough that I can go visit while N is out of town and I can have some help! Milo and I visited my parents (and got to see his aunts and uncles and cousins too!) and got to swim and play and had a great time. But we were SOOOOO glad to see the Daddy when he got back on Friday night.

Thankful Thursday (on Friday)
In keeping with my theme of doing EVERYTHING late, I'm joining my friend AM in doing Thankful Thursdays. Here's an excerpt from her blog, explaining what it's about:
"Every day there are obvious things to be thankful for, but I want to increasingly note the small, seemingly minuscule, gifts of each day. And then work to make a habit of writing a few down each day in my journal. Beginning and ending the day with my heart and mind focused on thankfulness, and what I do have vs. what I don't. I love this quote from one of my favorite bible study books: "Two women looked through prison bars. One saw mud, the other saw stars". What a difference our perspective makes!"
Each Thursday she's going to post some of the things she's been thankful for that day/week and she's invited us to join in. So I'm going to! It's really amazing what an attitude shift you can have by being thankful, even when it doesn't appear at first glance that there's anything to be thankful for. Example: These days I am frequently aggravated about having to get out of the house so it can be shown, and having to take Milo and Kona with me and go drive around or impose on friends for hours at a time. The other day as I was sitting in the car with a screaming baby and a crying dog I was just about at the end of my rope and thought hey, I am thankful I have a house at all. I am thankful that we have a dog that keeps us company and entertains us. I am thankful that we have this sweet baby boy because look how much more wonderful our lives are since we've had him. After this particular exercise I was much more calm and had a different perspective on the situation. I'm not saying it was permanent - but it's a start! So I'm going to join in on Thursdays (or whatever day I get around to it) and post something(s) I'm thankful for!

- My handsome husband of FOUR YEARS
- Yummy pizza and apple pie for anniversary dinner
- 20 whole minutes to sit on the couch with my beloved and talk before we were interrupted by a teething baby (I've discovered time to have an adult conversation without yelling over a boisterous 10 month old is rare)
