Visiting With Old (and new) Friends

I was trying to get my phone all synced and updated yesterday and found these pics. I can't believe I forgot to post them! Over Thanksgiving break we got to see one of my besties (from SECOND GRADE!) while we were at my parents. LB #1 (both of our initials are LB!) texted me the week before and asked if we would be around and if she could swing by to see us. She hadn't met Milo and we hadn't met her sweet baby girl (who is just a couple months older than Milo) either!

Here are the little kids playing together:

And the big girls playing (I believe they were comparing notes over iPhone games):

(BTW - big kid on the left - not mine! That's my oldest niece Ainsley who could pass for my girl but she belongs to my sister.)

It's funny how we even got to be friends - she transferred to my elementary school in 2nd grade. Our teacher asked me (probably the shyest girl in the entire second grade) to show the new girl around. I don't recall specifics but from that day on we were pretty well joined at the hip. I'm so thankful for this friendship and so glad we were able to visit for a little while and catch up!

30 Days of Thanks: Day 12

I am thankful for praying friends. Last night we had our first outing sans bambino. We have both gone to work at the same time before but this was different - we left him with a sitter and went to an awards dinner where my uncle was being honored. We love the sitter we left him with and we totally trust her but that didn't stop me from feeling a little anxiety. OK, a lot of anxiety. So, I texted a good friend who I knew would pray for me and told her what the deal was. I had no doubt she'd pray but her response was so great. By the time she texted me back (just a few minutes later) she told me she had already prayed, and would continue to pray. But she didn't stop there. She told me specifically what she was praying for me so that I could (as Beth Moore would say) "claim it". I have no doubt this is what kept me from being a COMPLETE basket case last night.

In my discipleship group in high school one of the things that I remember one of our leaders telling us was that if someone asks us to pray for them that a great thing to do is to do it, right there, with them on the phone or wherever you are. That always stuck with me but it was one of those things I either never had the guts to do or didn't think about until after the fact. But, being on the other side of that last night, I can say that was truly such a blessing to me. So, to my friend who did that for me, thank you!

(By the way, everything was totally fine, the little man was sound asleep when I got home and no one seemed any worse for the wear.)
