I Need Some Advice!

This one is for all of my friends who have had kids...what on earth do I need to pack in the bag for the hospital??? I tried to start earlier and got as far as a nightgown w/robe and some pillows and then stalled out. I know I need an outfit for Baby A but we have one more shopping stop to make before we decide on that. Other than that....I've got nothing. Help!

  1. Ok so here is my two cents- all I needed for the girls was a going home outfit, but I put them in a few other cute stuff too. The hospital provided us with little white shirts, diapers, wipes, ointment, formula, bottles, burp cloths, soap, etc. For myself, I took some of the maternity stuff that I wore about half way thru the pregnancy to wear around the room and to wear home. I took mostly jammies with Hannah, but then we had lots of visitors and I was a little uncomfortable around the men in my jammies! Take all your own shampoo, soap and especially lotion because nothing feels better after labor than a good shower! You will be glad for good lotion because you will be washing or sanitizing your hands often! Ok that's enough of a book for now!

  2. smart water for labor (it has electrolytes!) shower items for you, clothes that you can easily fit into now with room to spare (I was so swollen after all those fluids in me that I literally couldn't wear what I wore into the hospital before I had her!) Maybe a pillow from home. Other than that the hospital gives you all you need!

  5. Here's some things I was glad I brought: I loved having my own pillow and favorite blanket from home. Also having some of your favorite snacks to keep around for you both. a comfy robe and slippers. good chapstick or lip balm. Some comfy maternity clothes/pj's (I was so glad after about 24 hours to get out of that hospital gown). all the stuff you want for nursing, we brought our boppy. I wish I would of brought a folder or binder to try to orgainize all the different kinds of paper work staff brought by. Thats all the highlights I can think of. Its so exciting its so close, I am so excited for you guys!! we will keep you in our prayers as your day draws nearer!

  6. Bring flip flops to wear home, just in case. My feet were so swollen I could not wear the shoes I had worn in for Hannah. For Jackson I knew this and brought my most stretched out pair. Boppy is a good idea mentioned earlier. That way if you need help the lactation nurse can help you with the same stuff you will be useing at home. The folder is a good idea too, you will get tons of paperwork, and you may want to have a little note pad to write down who comes to visit and if they bring anything incase you want to put it in the baby book or write a note later. Wish I was closer, I'm so excited for you.
