So this is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now. It’s not a funny subject like some of those I’ve posted before, but I’m interested to know what others think about this.
In my extended family, there has been a string of incidents happen lately. Some would call them bad luck, some tragedies, some just life. Whatever you call them, they’re not fun. Beyond just my family, I’ve noticed (on the few occasions when I can bring myself to watch the news) that there seem to be more bad things going on in general - kidnappings, murders, other unspeakable evils.
My question is this: what is the problem??? I can think of at least three possible scenarios:
(1) This world really is going to (if you’ll pardon the expression) “hell in a handbasket” - society is getting so far away from the Truth that mankind in general is just saying “to hell with it” not realizing that that’s EXACTLY what they’re in for?
(2) a. There has always been this number of horrible things going on, it’s just that I was so sheltered (read “ostrich with my head in the sand”) that I didn’t realize it OR b. The media has shifted from covering “newsworthy” items to just covering anything and everything that’s bad news (for example, when gas prices were going up, it was on the news EVERY STINKING DAY about how people couldn’t eat because they were having to spend their entire paychecks putting fuel in their vehicles, which is another subject entirely BUT now that gas prices are on the way down, I have seen it on the news ONE time and on that occasion, whatever news anchor it was said “don’t expect the decline in price to last, it’ll be on the way back up in no time”).
Or is it something else entirely? Any thoughts?
